CANOPY LOFTS
design | development
Located in the central ninth neighborhood of Salt Lake City, this infill site features A 140 year old tree which we considered to be our greatest asset to the blighted lot. Our approach to the design was centralized around preserving the tree (and several others) to create a piece of architecture that works with, and around, the delicate root structures. At 33' wide the site offered little compromise - creating a building that is only 18' at it's widest point.
Composed of 11 loft style units and a ground floor coffee shop and co-working space, the building aims to showcase how buildings can preserve nature in an urban environment while also providing unique living spaces, community green space and gathering spaces.
