CO-CREATE
For this submission to the RDA Competition at 901 South Gale street in Salt Lake City, we teamed up with dozens of local artists to dream up Co-Create. Co-create works as an incubator for small businesses in the artistic community of Salt Lake. Under one roof, businesses are supported by the artists who use them, artists are supported by the galleries who display their art; and the galleries are supported by the social functions that bring the public in.
Our team is all too familiar with the positive and negative impacts that new development can have on artists who live in formerly industrial areas. We understand there is, and always has been, a dichotomy between the desires of local residents to preserve affordability and the financial impact that new development creates. The building seeks to bring harmony to this dichotomy by keeping the art community of the Granary neighborhood at home while providing them a new building that supports their needs.
