Our challenge with the Alpine home rested in the Owner's desire to turn a typical 90's spec home into a contemporary Scandinavian inspired residence for a large family. A two story addition to the North side of the home adds an open concept kitchen, living and dining room with a vaulted ceiling that celebrates a beautiful view to the mountains.

 

Existing hipped roof forms were affordably over framed to create a new balanced facade with three gables - each slightly different in their details yet harmonious in their composition together. Steel "eyebrows" floating over new windows under eave less roof lines serve both a functional and aesthetic purpose - keeping snow and rainwater away from fenestrations while adding a touch of contemporary architectural detailing to a formerly dated home.
