Fleetwood resides in a prestigious neighborhood on the East Bench in Salt Lake City - home to dozens of time-capsuled mid-century modern homes. Instead of new construction - the design | build worked with our clients to transform the bones of the existing house into a familiar, contextually appropriate mid-century inspired design with contemporary flare.

Built into a steep hillside - we utilized the existing exterior walls, foundations and retaining walls in combination with a carefully considered horizontal and vertical addition. A new glulam post and beam structure spans the gap between old and new, expressing itself in vaulted ceilings throughout all spaces of the home and projecting to the exterior, forming roof overhangs and cantilevering decks. Clerestory glass is utilized on three sides of the home to respect privacy from neighbors while framing select views of mountain ridgelines. On the West facing facade floor to ceiling class celebrates views to the valley + mountains beyond while deep cantilevering roofs provide maximum shade from harsh desert sunsets.
